Restylane: What you need to know
The eleven’s, crow’s feet, and worry lines- oh my! It is difficult for adults of all ages to look in the mirror and not notice wrinkles of all types popping up on our face. Even though new wrinkles are showing up every year, now there’s plenty of options to help dimish their appearance. With so many options available, it’s important to be educated on which treatment is best for you.
Restylane is a hyluronic acid dermal filler. Some other dermal fillers on the market are Juvederm, Perlane and Captique. Hyluronic acid is like a cushion in the skin; It draws water to the skin by binding dermal tissue to water molecule. Because it draws moisture to the skin, it is an ideal candidate for a moisturizer and wrinkle plumper. If your worried about allergies or strange fillers, don’t be! Because hyluronic acid is naturally found in the body, allergy testing isn’t necessary.
Restylane typically costs between $550- $700 per syringe. Selecting someone who is experienced with injections will help you get the most of your money as they can make fewer mistakes. The procedure typically takes around 30 minutes and most of the swelling should go down after 24 hours. Approved for adults over the age of 18, the majority of people who use Restylane and similar fillers are between the ages of 30- 60. According the Restylane’s website, the procedure lasts between 6-12 months and of course varies from person to person. Although many people report that Restylane starts to fade out around the 6 month mark. Restylane seems to have a firmer consistency, than Juvederm for example, making it ideal for deeper lines in the face.
It is very important to make sure you have chose the right filler for your needs and price range in addition to a doctor that you trust and who respects your opinions.
